If you have never had a professional facial, it is natural to feel a little unsure of what happens behind the treatment room door. The truth is that a first facial should feel calm and unhurried, and you are in control the whole way through.
We begin with a short consultation and skin analysis. This is where we ask about your skin history, any concerns, products you use and how your skin behaves day to day. It means your treatment is built around your skin on the day, rather than a one-size-fits-all routine applied to everyone.
From there, expect a thorough double cleanse to remove makeup, sunscreen and the day, followed by gentle exfoliation and any extractions your skin needs. If you have congestion or blackheads, this is the stage that clears them, carefully and hygienically.
Next come the active serums and treatments chosen for your concern, whether that is brightness, hydration, calming or decongesting. Many clients find this the most relaxing part, often with a soothing facial massage that supports circulation and lymphatic drainage.
We finish with a mask, hydration and, crucially, SPF. You will leave with a healthy glow and a simple plan to maintain it at home. There is no downtime for most facials, though some warmth or light redness can settle within a few hours, especially if extractions were involved.
Our advice for your first visit: come with a bare face if you can, arrive a few minutes early to settle, and ask as many questions as you like. There is no such thing as a silly question about your own skin.
